Anyone else in a guild doing raids? My guild has done Hard Mode Eternity Vault up to Soa but can't seem to get through the second phase. I was wondering if anyone else has tried and had success. _________________ "What cheers me up? Um... I suppose mainly gloating over the misfortunes of other people. I guess that has to be it. What's the best tactic for the lightning balls? _________________ "What cheers me up? Um... I suppose mainly gloating over the misfortunes of other people. I guess that has to be it. Have the entire raid stack in the middle on the boss, when the balls spawn, the 2 people who are targeted get out of the raid, preferably in opposite directions, towards the area where the balls spawned. They'll quickly split up, moving towards their targets, once you know which one is yours, you pop a defensive CD if available, and run through it to explode it.
Important things to note:
- DO NOT let your ball lightning path through the middle, you will completely fuck your entire raid instantly if you do this.
- DO NOT run through your ball lightning when it's still stacked / close to the other one, the AoE from both of them plus the explosion will kill you quicker than you can say "balls in my face."
- DO NOT hesitate when running through them! When blowing them up you need to commit and run through it quickly, if you hover 8m away the AoE is going to shred you, and then the explosion will finish you off. If you have some kind of sprint, like Force Speed, using that when running through it will reduce the amount of AoE ticks you take (should be 2 max, regardless) before it explodes.
- Blowing them up as quickly as possible is KEY, because you need to be healed up immediately, since Force Cyclone is ~10sec after ball lightning, and if you get picked up at <60% health you are going to die.
- Even if the tank is picked, he/she needs to get out of the middle immediately as well, because, again, if a ball paths to the middle you're just plain fucked.
Ball Lightning is basically this entire fight, once you learn how to deal with it it gets a lot easier. Defensive CDs and medpacs are really, really useful, everyone is responsible for keeping themselves alive. It also helps a lot if you have a DPS that can offheal when a healer is mind-trapped or picked up by the boss, the enrage timer doesn't start until Phase 3, so P2 is all about attrition, it's not a race. _________________ "The problem with quotes on the Internet is the validity of them." -Abraham Lincoln |

Thanks for the info. Last night we figured out we need to throw guards up on the guys without defensive cool downs. You're not kidding about those damn things shredding you. The problem we had is being spread out and having people get hit accidentally. _________________ "What cheers me up? Um... I suppose mainly gloating over the misfortunes of other people. While we're on the subject, any tips for the last phase? _________________ "What cheers me up? Um... I suppose mainly gloating over the misfortunes of other people. I guess that has to be it. When the boss is vulnerable, fuck everything else and burn him as hard as you can. Ignore mind traps, ignore ball lightning, you can worry about it again when he re-shields.
Other than that, hope to god that the tank doesn't get mind trapped, and also hope you don't miss any pyramid drops. He will enrage on the 4th drop no matter what. _________________ "The problem with quotes on the Internet is the validity of them." -Abraham Lincoln |

Thanks. Hopefully we'll be able to finish him off next time we run it. _________________ "What cheers me up? Um... I suppose mainly gloating over the misfortunes of other people. Hey Akuma, I've been meaning to ask this for a while now, as a very active end game MMO'r what is your/your guilds impressions of SWTOR so far? Have you all left WoW permanently for SWTOR? Think that choice will last? How do you guys feel about PvP? _________________ "People really don’t like to hear success explained away as luck — especially successful people. We did stop playing WoW to raid SWTOR, which I don't regret. If I was still raiding Dragon Soul all these months I'd have thrown myself off a bridge.
I can say pretty definitively that our time is almost up with SWTOR. The new raid coming out only has 5 bosses, that's not going to last us very long. I don't play at all right now because there just isn't anything to do. We've stopped raiding current content because we're all geared on at least 1-2 characters, and sick of the same 2 operations over and over.
PvP is pretty enjoyable, and pretty well balanced, but it lacks depth. There just isn't that much to it. I'll be the first to admit that WoW's PvP is severely unbalanced and has been for a while now, but it DOES have a lot more depth to it.
The current plan is to hit the new raid in 1.2 for maybe a month, and then probably cancel to play D3 for a while-ish. We're definitely going to jump on Guild Wars 2 when it comes out, and there's a decent chance we'll be hitting up Mists of Pandaria (new WoW xpac) to scratch the raiding itch, since it's looking to be pretty fun.
I don't regret leaving WoW for SWTOR, because there wasn't (and still isn't) anything new and exciting to do in WoW, and SWTOR was fun for a few months for sure, but it's hitting that point as well now, and the sad but unfortunate truth is that 1.2 is 90% features that should have been in at launch, and 10% a small amount of new content. _________________ "The problem with quotes on the Internet is the validity of them." -Abraham Lincoln |

I'm glad I'm not a raider... _________________ Core meltdown (commonly known as a meltdown) is an accident scenario in nuclear reactors, and is one of the possible modes of failure for light water reactors, during which the reactor pile turns into a pile of reactor.
