I would like it if it recognized me from being logged into the board so I don't have to name myself every time. It's one of the very few things EzBoard always did right. _________________ We live in an amazing, amazing world, and it's wasted on the crappiest generation of spoiled idiots. -- Louis CK

I could teach you to how file a washer to make it worth a nickel but if you really want to make big bucks just take a penny and drill a hole in it and it becomes a washer and is worth a dime. -- Art Martin, Old-Time Logger |

I did some searching around on the phpbb website and found rumors of a java chatroom mod. I tracked it down, and last Wednesday the developer took it down because a lot of Firefox users were having problems getting into it. I hope he makes it available again soon. Otherwise we'll probably be stuck with that java room I linked above. _________________ "I don't have dreams about the Navy. The Navy killed all of my dreams." - Buddy Lee

can you maybe make a widget that just takes the login info and dumps it into the nickname field? like, you could change it if you want to, but it defaults to the logged on user?
not too up on the code involved, but it doesn't sound that impracticle. your login has to be sent somewhere, so just capture a copy on the way and route it to the nickname field. |

Neither of those two options I listed above use logins at all. I think I'm gonig to go with the Java one for now just so we have something, but I really don't like either of them. Hopefully the modder making the phpmychat mod will fix his bugs and make it available soon.
I have no doubt it's "Possible" to use your idea Immyls, especially with the first option I have above. But since I have no idea how to go about doing that, it isn't going to be too easy. Still, I may look into it.
Although as of yet I don't actually know if that first option even works, since in the time since I linked it I have been the only one in that chat room. _________________ "I don't have dreams about the Navy. The Navy killed all of my dreams." - Buddy Lee

Hey, I'm trying to set up a server for web/email/chat/file/applications. It is completely isolated from the web and has no possible way of connecting to it. I have MS Windows Server 2003, but don't really know how to do all this stuff. Anybody got any ideas? BTW, it's for the old LAN which is completely wireless now, except for my hardwire. _________________ "I'll punch your FIST with my FACE!" -- Vy |

Another thing I'd like to see the new chat do is flag if somebody's on there. How many of us have only logged onto the old EzChat because the "there are 2 people chatting" flag? As it is now, I see the chat option, but every time I've logged in on a whim, there's been nobody there. Chatting with you clowns is a hoot. I'd like to do it once in awhile. Heh? Heh? _________________ We live in an amazing, amazing world, and it's wasted on the crappiest generation of spoiled idiots. -- Louis CK

Any progress on getting this thing linked to the board so we can see if there's anybody online? _________________ We live in an amazing, amazing world, and it's wasted on the crappiest generation of spoiled idiots. -- Louis CK

Last I checked, they still hadn't fixed it so firefox users didn't have problems. Granted, our boards and forums are designed to be "best viewed in Internet Explorer," but I figured those few of you who use firefox religiously would appreciate me getting somethign that worked. _________________ "I don't have dreams about the Navy. Hey, I ran across this chat server: http://www.echatserver.com/index.htm
If y'all like it, I'd be happy to flip the bill, since I am contemplating buying it anyway. I just need to know if you can configure it to suit our needs.
only one thing: it's limited to 20 usersat a time _________________ "I'll punch your FIST with my FACE!" -- Vy |
