I haven't spent a considerable amount of money(That I don't have) in a while, so I guess I was due this weekend and went and bought a new guitar. Does anyone else play? I'm not any good, but I still enjoy it. I love the new guitar although its kind of the exact opposite style of guitar that I should have... Its probably a heavy lead guitar wheras I tend to play wussy(Almost acoustic) rhythm. Oh well, I dig it.

I have 1 acoustic, 2 electric(now), and a digital guitar(More or less). I'll give the old electric to my brother though as he's been wanting to learn. My acoustic is a small ovation, and my fingers are too big for it now, so I think I need to replace it

I played for aloooong time back in my highschool days. I was pretty good back in the day but I eventually quit because there aren't many ppl around that like the kind of music I do. I had awesome luck in that I was taught by a guy that was about the best guitarist I've ever seen anywhere. My first impressions of him was he was one of those 80's guitar gods in disguise. After he showed off for a bit he ran out and started playing mozart and stuff on piano before I left the store. Turns out he wrote stuff for the St.Louis orchestra every now and then as well, so basically I spent 4-5 years getting him to teach me how to write stuff in that way.
I have one of these.

Ibanez pretty much always makes good quality stuff. I have both an acoustic and an electric from them. Both instruments were about $100-$150 and are both excellent instruments. I also recommend Bose pedals (they are a bit pricey, but they have a tuning pedal that is absolutely wonderful. Get that one if you don't get any others). Both Steve Vai and Joe Satriani use Ibanez guitars and they are two of the best guitar players in my opinion. One of these days I'll snag one of Vai's signature JEM series guitars, but that's low priority for now.

I already posted this on another page but this is the guitar I just ordered through amazon. Now I just have to sit here and wait impatiently for the damn thing to show up.
I've wanted to learn how to play for years but as with many things that I wanted to do the navy sapped my will/energy to try anything that wasn't sleeping, drinking, and/or bitching for about a 6 year period of my life.

Being a HUGE fan of metal, i've wanted to learn for about 7 years. Ace Frehley is my god, followed by Dimebag, and Eddie Van Halen. Just recently I have been really wantign to push forward to buy a guitar, and teach myself(ohnoez). I don't have all that much money to spend, seeing as how a car will be needed shortly

I bought my first setup for 200 bucks used(Guitar, amp, cables, case, etc). I'm sure you could get just a guitar for 50-100 though.

Wow. 200. Not bad. Still not what I want to spend. I could always sell my kidney for it. I'd prolly need the amp cables and case though, especially if I wanted to bring it to school and get a few basic lessons. /think. I will probably jsut wait til next summer.

I remember when Dave was getting ready to play with you. He came home with a bag full of 80's rock and I had to listen to that for the next month or so. He went from listening to Mars Volta to GnR.
I start lessons this week, I was going to teach myself but discovered that might be a bit to ambitious. _________________ The word God is for me nothing more than the expression and product of human weaknesses, the Bible a collection of honorable, but still primitive legends which are nevertheless pretty childish. - Albert Einstein
